Welcome

Miniature Apocalypse is all about helping modelers get their figures built with a modicum of quality, on budget and on the table. Remember the game store wants your hard earned money, but they should deserve it before you hand it to them.

White Dwarf Vampire Slayer

It's been a very long time since I've taken it slow while painting a figure. I came across the white dwarf anniversary Grombrindal as a vampire slayer and I knew it deserves some love.

While cleaning this finecast figure I found so much character, I just couldn't wait to paint it. Unfortunately I've had no time to direct towards my painting. Painting figures is how I center myself, it's like I can de-stress and forget the world for a brief moment. I don't know about you but I find a state of mindfulness and calm when I'm building and painting. So many of my recent projects have been rushed. That said I was in a friend's store(my FLGS) called strategies when he handed me a pink paper with his painting competition rules. He told me I needed to enter. Everything came together for me, Grombrindal and some stress relief.

Still a long way to go but I promise this time you will get posts for the process.
Till next time, have fun and see you in the 4x8 arena.

Stripping Figures

Today we will be discussing the how to reliably strip the paint off your figures. We've all been there, you need to get that figure ready for a game and slap slap goes the paint, or, you bought that army off eBay/craigslist and it was painted with a house painting brush. Well worry no more here I am with the magic solution....

Painting with Simple Washes and Bases

This week we will be tackling the simple base and wash technique. This is really a staple of the model painters repertoire. In this example we are using the zoanthropes from my Hive Fleet Baal. This a simple two tone of pink flesh and walnut boney armour.

New Games Workshop Paints (Wallet Beatdown)

(notice the size difference over the years, and yes i do still use 1990s paints)

The other day, my friend and I went on a little fact finding trip to a 'major gaming store' (to keep them anonymous well just call them GW). The goal of this trip was to try out the new paint line. I was looking forward to the new colours and technical paint medium.
