Welcome

Miniature Apocalypse is all about helping modelers get their figures built with a modicum of quality, on budget and on the table. Remember the game store wants your hard earned money, but they should deserve it before you hand it to them.

Word Bearers - Terminators build

No Chaos Space marine army is complete without a Squad of Terminators. To keep with my Word Bearers theme I needed to make the "Anointed" squad.

Word Bearers Heldrake Conversion

The new Chaos Space Marine Heldrake is(in my opinion) one of the worst looking figures GW has ever made. This said, it is also, one of the best fliers on the table. The Heldrake just doesn't seem to fit the CSM aesthetic. so lets see what we can do about that...

Word Bearers Project HQ choices build

This is the first article in my Chaos Space Marine Word Bearers series. today we will be covering the HQ section of the force. I'm basing this army on the book trilogy by Anthony Reynolds, for me the omnibus is a must read if your into chaos. For my HQ I'm using the two main characters from the books Marduk and Kol Badar.

CSM Word Bearers project

I've been rather busy these last few weeks with work and the flu. This week I will start posting my very fluffy Word bearers army. I'm trying to represent the units and characters from the Anthony Reynolds omnibus. Here is a sneek peek at the HQ conversions. They are meant to represent Marduk and Kol Badar.

Stripping Figures

Today we will be discussing the how to reliably strip the paint off your figures. We've all been there, you need to get that figure ready for a game and slap slap goes the paint, or, you bought that army off eBay/craigslist and it was painted with a house painting brush. Well worry no more here I am with the magic solution....

Un-Derping Chaos Marine Obliterators

I like the idea behind the Chaos Marine Obliterators I just dont like some parts of the figures (mostly the derp faces and guns). Today I will show you how to make them a little bit more presentable.

Chaos Hellbrutes - WIP update

Finally Got my new Chaos Hellbrutes to a state I'm happy with. I have made a few minor changes, the chains off one, a cover for the other. I'm not looking to make them spectacularly different, Because i really like the original design of the Hellbrute. I just wanted to make them look more 'mine'.

That's all for now. As usual any comment or questions are welcome. Have fun and see you soon in the 4x8 arena.

CSM - Conversions

This week Has been Super Awesome for us Chaos Lovers. I did some trading and now have three sets of Dark Vengeance 6th edition figures. Now, for most Gamers it's just build out of the box. That said, for some reason Chaos Daemons and Chaos Space Marine players tend to be a different breed.

Most Disgusting WIP ever.

These are by far the most disgusting figures I've ever done. When I looked at the Nurgle Plague beasts, I thought they looked like ok chaos spawn, but that's about it. Then one stormy night on the internets, I saw the embodiment of gluttony and I knew I had to have these in my army.

Basing figures - Desert Sands

For my Sisters of battle army (Sister Mary Katherine's School for wayward girls), I knew I had to make Sanctuary 101 desert bases. This also meant I had to come up with a way to do this easy and consistent over the whole army. So as promised, here is how I made mine.

Nurglings for fun and profit

Today I'll show you how to make the most from your Nurgling box. I managed to get a good nine bases from the Nurgling box and the extra Nurglings from the plague bearers box.

Sisters of Battle Character Building

I've been wanting to make a Sisters of Battle army, forever. With 6th edition they seem to be more competative, especially with the new allies rules. We will start this series with sisters characters.

Painting with Simple Washes and Bases

This week we will be tackling the simple base and wash technique. This is really a staple of the model painters repertoire. In this example we are using the zoanthropes from my Hive Fleet Baal. This a simple two tone of pink flesh and walnut boney armour.

Now what do i do with this bad boy?

So here i am in the middle of two other projects when who should come into my collection....Now the big question is Balrog wings and make it a Blood Thirster lord or go for a Nurgle conversion? So much to do, so little time.

The figures are for size comparison.

Ork HQ, WIP.

Here is a sneek peek at my Ork Nobz and homemade Painboy and heavily modified Ghaz.

For the Nobz I modified the WFB black Ork box set. I wanted to make them look like they have the 'eavy armour option. I'll post more on this WIP when I'm done.

have fun and see you soon on the 4x8 arena.

Imperial Guard Allies Part One

This week I've been working on my Allied Imperial Guard army. I say allied because I want to be able to use this force with any other army (from Chaos to Marines) according to the new 6th edition allies rules. So I wanted to make them stand out but also be fully recognizable for what they are on the table.

WIP Guard Allies

The Useful Tool

I hope this video of the tools I use will be helpful. For the seasoned model builder this stuff is old hat, but for the beginner this should prove very useful. This selection of tools is not that expensive. Also if you take good care of them and they will last longer. It's not about having the latest greatest thing, it's about what works for you.

As usual if you have any questions or comments just drop me an email.

Have fun and see you soon in the 4x8 arena.

Ork Fighta Bommer Build (part 2)

Painting the Ork Fighta Bommer

Welcome to part two of my Ork Fighta Bommer article. My Ork force mostly consists of Evil Sunz, so i decided to go with red. Besides, everyone knows the red ones go faster. if you would like to see the build click here.

Wait No Longer

I now have My copy of 6th edition 40k in my grubby little hands. A big Thank you goes out to the crew at Wisers collectibles For bailing me out with a copy, after my pre-order from another source bailed on me. Now to read this monster...

Ork Fighta Bommer Build (part 1)

So I decided to add the new Ork Bommer to my Ork army. From what I've read the internet is 30/70 split on good/bad. personally I'm not looking for a win button here I just want a good force with lots of character. The dakka jet has character in spades.

Here are some pictures, of my Tyranid Trygon. I chose this flesh and bone scheme to fit the back story for Tyranids. Enjoy, and see you soon on the 4x8 arena.

Canoptek Spyder Build & Paint

Painting The Canoptek Spyder  |

Painting the Canoptek Spyder was fun and quick. I'm adding this Canoptek Spyder to my 2 day Necron army, so the scheme is a simple 2 tone, silver and dark green with orange and green accent colours.

2 Day Necrons

Once I saw the new Necrons in White Dwarf, I knew I had to have some. From the time I decided on my force makeup to the time I hit the table was only 2 days. I decided to go with what I call the 'Quantum leap', most units in this army can either re-position (using veils of darkness) or deep strike. Once I had the concept, it was time to do the build.

New Games Workshop Paints (Wallet Beatdown)

(notice the size difference over the years, and yes i do still use 1990s paints)

The other day, my friend and I went on a little fact finding trip to a 'major gaming store' (to keep them anonymous well just call them GW). The goal of this trip was to try out the new paint line. I was looking forward to the new colours and technical paint medium.
